just like old times
Today I spent the morning and part of the afternoon with an old friend. I don’t say old because she is approaching 31 to my youthful 29, but because we have been mommy friends for the last seven years. Melissa Coogle has been called many names by my babies: Mah-wiffah, Miss Lissa, and Mah-cheetah. I think the last is my personal favorite.
We have compared pregnancy weight gains, number of times our newborns woke up during the night, and shared potty training tips and techniques. We have made baby food together and perfected a nacho recipe that would make real Mexicans jealous.
In the last two years we have been outnumbered by our own offspring and our schedules have gotten more complicated with grown children going to school and our playdates have become less frequent. But today we changed that. We went to the bounce house palace formerly known as Zoinks and let out littlest men bounce themselves silly. (thank you Fun Station Junior for your more reasonable admission price of $4 plus tax instead of the $8 that it used to be) We got the stink eye from some mamas that we saw chasing around two or three littles and laughed because we have done our time.
We followed “Zoinks” with lunch at a place Sullivan called Bagels Bagels. Mah-cheetah told me that kids eat free at Bagel Bagel on Tuesdays. I love a bargain and I was not disappointed. For $3.22 Sullivan and I both ate our fill of delicious multi grain bagels.
The moral of this story slash post is that good friends will last through three babies and the name change of local establishments. And also that for a grand total of $7.52 my little mister and I had a great time with our friends today. We are a cheap date and we are proud of it.
